Creepy New ‘It Comes At Night’ Trailer: What’s Outside The Red Door?

Do you like horror movies that keep things cryptic while slowly, devilishly ratcheting up the tension? We’re talking about the recent resurgence of movies like The Witch, The Invitation, It Follows and The Babadook, where restraint is prized over fleeting jump scares and loud jolts. If so, it looks like we may soon add another entry to that growing list of terrific art house horror:It Comes At Night.

Written and directed by Trey Edward Shults, who won both the Audience Award and the Grand Jury Award at SXSW for his feature debut Krisha, It Comes At Night is set in a world in which everything has gone south. We’re not entirely sure what the threat is, because either the marketing is keeping the titular It secret or the film itself does, but either way the basic gist is that Joel Edgerton plays a cagey man whose house out in the middle of nowhere is a sanctuary of sorts from whatever madness is going on in the world.

Well, it’s a sanctuary so long as everyone inside follows all the rules. And as this creepy new trailer shows us, when someone breaks the rules, bigger and freakier problems start to arise. Check it out.

It Comes At Night hits theaters on June 9, 2017.
