Exclusive Clip: Heartbreak and Hope in ‘The Zookeeper’s Wife’

When you think about World War II movies, they might bring to mind the horrific action of Saving Private Ryan or men-on-a-mission stories like The Dirty Dozen, but it’s the quieter and more dramatic stories that can have the most impact — especially when it’s a story you may not be familiar with.

Such is the case with The Zookeeper’s Wife, which chronicles the true tale of Polish zookeeper Antonina Zabinski (Jessica Chastain), caretaker of the animals at the Warsaw Zoo as World War II was heating up. When the Germans finally invaded, bombing the zoo and killing many of her beloved creatures, she mounted her own rebellion: as she shipped her remaining animals to safety, she used the remains of the zoo to harbor as many Jews as she could.
