The onboarding process is often overlooked by employees and employers alike. Employees don’t want to complain on their first day of work, and business leaders tend to delegate this task to HR. Get Them Started Right Away

Have them complete it digitally before they start in order to help them be more productive and get them started right away. Often, the few days for a new employee are filled with constant interruptions by the HR department. This does not benefit anyone. The new employee is unable to get familiar with their daily routine, and the employer is losing out on productivity. Don’t Give Them Dinosaur Technology

If you want to offend and lose productivity, provide your new employee with dinosaur technology. Sure, all the better computers are taken by some of the older employees, but that does not mean you should provide the new person with that old beat-up computer at the corner of the room. Unfortunately, this means that you won’t be able to cover every little thing that your new employee needs to know. The best route to take here is creating your own employee handbook. This will provide information on the history, mission statement, methodology and workplace environment of your company. It may also include miscellaneous information regarding lunch breaks, vacation time and even essential passwords needed to gain access to an office or the company’s internet.

The onboarding process is commonly taken for granted in most companies. It can seem overwhelming or not very important. However, it is incredibly crucial that business leaders adhere to the list of tips posted above in order to make their onboarding process more organized and effective.
