Movie News: ‘Dunkirk’ Set for Widest 70 mm Release in Years


Dunkirk: Christopher Nolan’s suspenseful war drama Dunkirk has been set for the widest 70 mm release in 25 years. Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight screened in the large format at 100 locations; Dunkirk will be screening in 125 specially equipped theaters. That’s more than double the number of theaters that screened Nolan’s Interstellar in 70 mm IMAX. Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Kenneth Branagh, Mark Rylance and Fionn Whitehead star; the movie opens on July 21. [Variety]

My Dinner with Herve: Andy Garcia (Kill the Messenger, above) will portray Ricardo Montalban in My Dinner with Herve. He will star opposite Peter Dinklage as Hervé Villechaize; the story revolves around one night in Los Angeles involving the French actor and a struggling journalist (Jamie Dornan). Go For Sisters

Windows on the World: Edward James Olmos (Go for Sisters, above) and Ryan Guzman will star in a drama about a father and son dealing with the aftermath of 9/11. The movie’s title, Windows on the World, refers to a complex of venues that were located on the top floors of the World Trade Center. The story follows a man in Mexico who sees the news on that fateful day and travels to New York City to find his father. Olmos’ son Michael D. Olmos will direct. [Variety]

Fun Mom Dinner

Fun Mom Dinner Trailer: Katie Aselton, Toni Collette, Bridget Everett and Molly Shannon star as four beleaguered mothers in Fun Mom Dinner. As the funny first trailer reveals, they decide to go to dinner together and find themselves unexpectedly bonding. The comedy also stars Adam Scott and Paul Rudd; look for it in theaters on August 4.
