Captain Marvel: Brie Larson (above in Free Fire) says in a new interview: “Captain Marvel is everything I care about, everything that’s progressive and important and meaningful, and a symbol I wished I would’ve had growing up.” She acknowledges, however, that it wasn’t a snap decision: “It took me a really long time. I had to sit with myself, think about my life and what I want out of it. … I really, really feel like it’s worth it if it can bring understanding and confidence to young women.” Captain Marvel is slated to begin production early next year. Isle of Dogs: Wes Anderson’s next movie, Isle of Dogs, has now been scheduled for release on April 20, 2018. Set in Japan, the movie “follows a boy’s odyssey in search of his dog.” The first poster for the stop-motion animated project features the main voice actors, including F. Murray Abraham, Bryan Cranston, Scarlett Johansson, Edward Norton, Tilda Swinton and Bill Murray. [Fox Searchlight]

The Week Of: Adam Sandler will reunite with Chris Rock on The Week Of. It’s a comedy for Netflix about the final week of preparation for a wedding between the children of characters to be played by Sandler and Rock. Sandler and Robert Smigel wrote the script; Smigel will make his feature directorial debut. Sandler and Rock first teamed up on Saturday Night Live and later appeared together in The Longest Yard and Grown Ups 2 (above), among others. [Deadline]

Tulip Fever Trailer: Alicia Vikander stars in a new trailer for Tulip Fever. She plays a young married woman in 17th-century Amsterdam who falls in love with an artist (Dane DeHaan) commissioned to paint her portrait.
