Earlier this week we got the above image from Alien: Covenant that offered our most complete look at the surely doomed spaceship crew. But that was just a still image. Now you can see it in motion thanks to Fox releasing what the studio is calling a prologue. It’s not a trailer, but rather an extended look at the scene from the pic.
In it we get to know the lay of the Covenant land a bit. It appears that everyone on board, save for Michael Fassbender’s droid character, is part of a couple. Katherine Waterston and James Franco seem to be running this ragtag group of idealistic explorers, who all have great chemistry together as they party after having woken up from hypersleep.
But something isn’t quite right. There aren’t any major spoilers in this scene, but the whole thing has an ominous lilt to it. Perhaps that’s just because it’s clearly playing off of the iconic dining scene in Ridley Scott’s original. Either way, we’re excited to meet the Covenant crew, but sad we know they’re pretty much all going to die not long after this.
Alien: Covenant hits theaters on May 19, 2017.
